Welcome!

The state medical establishment “Maternity clinic № 4 of the Department of Health, south-west Administrative District” of the city of Moscow is a leading medical organization in the branches of obstetrics, gynecology, and neonatology. The clinic facilitates over 6% of all childbirths in the city of Moscow.

The clinic was awarded the status of the “Child-riendly Hospital” and the honorary diploma “for its active contribution to advocating a healthy lifestyle”. The organization is also a winner of the international Prize “Profession-Life”.

The main mission of the maternity clinic is providing health services to pregnant women, women in childbirth, newborn children, and patients with gynecological conditions. More than 400 highly qualified medical staff work in the organization, of which 80% hold the highest and 1st level professional certificates and over 60% of the medical staff have a secondary technical training degree.

Effective provision of medical care is aided by the clinic’s capacity: 205 OBGYN beds and 116 beds for newborn children, of which 110 are in newborn physiology (including 18 beds for prematurely born infants). There is also a Rehabilitation and Intensive Therapy Unit for the newborn, 6 beds.

More than 6 000 children are delivered and over 9000 patents are treated in the clinic yearly. From its outset, the clinic has assisted more than 200,000 births.

The maternity clinic facilitates general examination, monitoring and birth-preparedness courses for the spouses, including RPL and fetal loss syndrome due to genetically defective coagulation system. Modern diagnostic methods are widely used in complicated pregnancy and fetal/newborn pathology detection as well as dopplerometry, cardio-monitoring, ultrasonic and genetic examinations.

The clinic is fully equipped to train couples for the childbirth both physically and psychologically, including the husband’s presence at childbirth and rooming in. All doors are opened to prospective patients so that they could familiarize themselves with the clinic and its departments.

The clinic has a successful program to aid mothers in their learning proper feeding techniques with active use of video-aids and materials about the benefits of natural breastfeeding.

The technique of the vertical birthing (soft birth) has been successfully implemented in the clinic for over 15 years. This type of birthing allows for a much less demanding, more natural and physiological process. After birth the newborn is placed on the mother’s stomach and at her breasts. The child stays with the mother after birth. When invasive medical assistance is necessary, a wide range of sparing anesthetics is used.

Many new diagnostic and treatment technologies are implemented in the clinic which significantly widened the choice of both traditional and endoscopic treatment. The following endoscopic operative invasions are routinely carried out:

  • reconstructive surgery of the cervix and uterine appendages
  • urogynecological surgery
  • vaginal surgery using synthetic implants
  • operations for commissural process in the small pelvis, hysteromyoma, genital endometriosis
  • laser treatments for the diseases of the cervix of the uterus
  • pregnancy termination in the early stages.

Rapid advancement of the medical science, widespread implementation of the new technologies and evidence-base medicine elements into the clinical practice necessitate systematic post-graduate professional education for obstetricians and gynecologists. The maternity house is the clinical base for the faculties of obstetrics, gynecology and neonatology of the leading higher education establishments of the country.

The main direction of the scientific work is implementing modern prevention methods, diagnostics and treatments for obstetric hemorrhages, RPL, new low-invasive technologies in operative gynecology to restore the reproductive functions.

Maternity House № 4 has the most advanced medical equipment. The clinic’s success over the years put it amongst the leading maternity clinics of the city of Moscow.
